Born to Heal, Built to Reveal

Calvin Lane comes down from the mountains for two things: a set of longevity needles, and the marriage he was promised as a child. The family holding him to that promise wants out, and his intended bride burns the contract. He does find the person who looked after him when he was small, Tessa Hayes, of the Hayes family. He treats the head of the Hayes family with the medicine he knows, and that pulls him into the fight over who controls them. He exposes the plan behind the broken engagement, and he deals with the traitors and with what the Wu family has been arranging. Dark things out of his master's past come up again, and Calvin finds out his own bloodline carries a secret that puts all of it at risk. With the needles gathered, immortality is in reach and he turns it down.
