X-Ray Eyes, Billionaire Rise

Lincoln Cross was walking across campus with no money in his pocket when Audrey Sterling, whose father owns the company the campus is named after, hit him with her car and put him in the air. He got up with X-ray vision. He did not test it quietly. He used it in front of people, several times, and the effect on the ones watching was immediate. A man who can see through anything is not a curiosity. He is a way to know which stone is worth buying and which safe is worth opening. Vera Blackwood came looking for him, the heir to a criminal outfit that has been in the city for generations. Blair Leighton and Amber Collins turned up too, sisters who work as a pair and can between them get into most rooms in town. So did Audrey, who had knocked him down in the first place and now had a reason to keep track of where he was. All of them arrived at the same conclusion at roughly the same time, which is that a walking god of wealth is worth holding on to.
