My Ebayed Pet Boy

Zheng Enhui is thirty-four and everything in her life is grey. She married young because of an unplanned pregnancy, and that marriage has produced her husband's affair, a separation, and nothing else she can point to. At work she is pushed around. Her daughter is studying overseas and the fees have to come from somewhere, so Enhui swallows her pride and asks the husband who cheated on her for money, lowering her head to him each time. She drinks through the nights after. On one of those nights, drunk and scrolling a secondhand trading app, she taps the order button on something she does not really look at. The next morning she wakes with a hangover and finds a man standing in her living room, striking-looking and difficult to place, who tells her the item she ordered has been delivered and that from today he is the secret partner who will take care of her daily life. No returns, no refunds. He turns out to be more than household help. He puts backbone into her, and he starts arranging the kind of payback her boss and her husband have had coming.
