Doctor's Orders, Your Highness

A woman from the 21st century, heir to a family of traditional physicians, wakes up in an unfamiliar dynasty and is taken for someone she is not. Facing nobles who use rank to push people around, she decides the safest course is to attach herself to the most powerful patron she can find, and practice medicine under his protection. The patron is a prince who holds enormous power and whose name is known across the empire. His legs are diseased and he cannot walk. He keeps women away from him and treats them as a contagion. At their first meeting she tells him to take off his clothes. "How dare you," he snaps. She holds up her silver needles and asks how she is supposed to treat him otherwise. His face stays cold, and his ears turn red. After that he begins quietly wanting to take the shameless woman home with him.
