Heatwave of Destiny

Cheng Che wants his summer left the way it was. His father, Cheng Xiao, brings home Yun Xiang, a girl in her last year of school whose father served alongside him, and the talk in the old part of Shen Cheng, around the housing put up for the factory workers, is that she is Cheng Xiao's daughter from an affair. The other boys in the compound bring it up to Cheng Che for a laugh. He is wary of her and lays out what she can and cannot do around him. School then puts the two of them at the same desk, so they are next to each other every day. She is decent with him and does not fold under any of it, and his guard comes down over the weeks. His family has expectations of the pair of them and his classmates keep talking about it.
