Fool in Love

Summer Yale designs jewelry and had been married to Henry Gosling for some years when he was hurt in an accident and did not wake up. His younger brother Louie was caught in the same accident and came round soon after. Louie moves the way Henry moved, keeps Henry's habits, handles money with the same judgment, and knows private things that only Summer and her husband knew. Summer puts him through one test after another and comes to believe that her husband's soul woke up inside Louie's body. Their mother finds out what the two of them are doing and both are condemned for it. By then Summer is carrying Louie's child. The mother's illness turns out to be terminal, and Louie tells her the truth, which is that no soul moved anywhere. He had been in love with Summer since before the accident and could not stand watching her grieve, so he let her believe her husband had come back. He knows she is still in love with his brother and has been willing to stand in for him.
