Answer to My Heart

Cecelia Collins wants to keep the child she is carrying. She has spent years under an arrangement that requires her to act as though she cannot speak, and when she is taken by kidnappers she comes to think Ivan Justice does not want the baby. She gets hold of a phone and calls him as one of the people holding her, which keeps him on the line without him knowing who he is talking to. The calls go on and they are tense. Over the course of them the things the two of them had wrong about each other come apart. Ivan encourages her to give up the pretence, and she starts speaking as herself again.
