Love and Vengeance on the Throne

Xie Jingmei lives in a nunnery with her head shaved. She was born into a noble family and was engaged to King Kanghui, then was picked for the emperor's harem because of her looks and rose to be a favoured consort. The queen resented her and had her branded a demon, and the charge dragged her family down with her. The emperor was given over to wine and women, and Prince Yu used the moment to rise in revolt. While the court was fleeing, the emperor put the blame for the disaster on Xie Jingmei, and her family was destroyed. She took vows in despair, but she has never accepted the name that was hung on her, and she is waiting for a chance to pay it back. Her chance comes when the emperor loses his way during the autumn hunt and the two of them meet. She leaves a scent sachet behind on purpose. Once she is back inside the palace she joins forces with King Kanghui against the people who brought her down.
