Spring Waltz

Isabelle needs five million dollars for her mother's treatment and has no way to raise it. The money comes from Sebastian, a billionaire, in exchange for a signed marriage contract with terms and an expiry. She is an analyst by trade, so she reads the document properly before signing, and she goes into the arrangement understanding that the family regards her as a line item. Then she becomes pregnant, which none of the paperwork anticipated. The Sebastian relatives have their own plans for the inheritance and for who ought to be carrying the next heir, and Isabelle finds herself inside a scheme she was never briefed on, being handled as an asset by people who discuss her in the third person while she is in the room. She spends the length of the contract arguing, in effect, that she is his wife rather than a purchase, and Sebastian, who married her as a transaction, keeps finding himself on her side of the argument as the winter runs out.
