Back from the Dead: Code of Revenge

Finn writes code for a living and is dating Millie. She and Rex, who runs an illegal lending operation, arrange his death together. He wakes up again in his own past with every memory of what they did still in place. He goes back to Tazhai, the village where the lenders have been collecting, and finds that Sadie, who grew up alongside him, is one of the people being squeezed. He starts small, using what he knows about systems and records to trace where the money moves and who signs for it. The villagers who owe money are organized into borrowing against the lenders themselves, turning the loan structure back on the people running it. Rex keeps enforcing debts through threats while Finn quietly assembles what a court will accept: contracts, transfer logs, the names behind the shell accounts. Millie stays close to Rex and does not know that the man building the case against them has already lived through the ending once. The conspiracy reaches further up than the village collections, and Finn works the technical side and the legal side at the same time until there is enough to hand over. Along the way he rebuilds the career he lost and stays near Sadie.
