Louise has just moved from the city to the countryside as the wife of a farmer called Troy Scott. She married him in place of her adoptive sister Christina, because her adoptive father is dying and the money for his treatment had to come from somewhere. Louise, a nurse who has only just finished her training, had been told Troy was an ugly farmer. He turns out to be young and good-looking, and he is not a farmer at all.
