Mistborn Grace II: Immortal? Been There, Done That

Mia Young arrives at the Linton house in Riverton as a guest, and the family gives her a poor reception. The invitation came from Cheryl Linton, who wrote it into her last wish before she died, asking that Mia one day come to the family as an honored guest. Cheryl had learned medicine from Mia, and the Lintons built their name as doctors on what she was taught. None of Cheryl's descendants show Mia any respect. They make things difficult for her over and over and skip the courtesies a guest is owed. In the end they send for the current head of the family, an old man counted as the first doctor of Riverton, and he comes out to put Mia in her place. His own medicine came from Mia as well, which nobody in the house has been told.
