Synopsis
Alice has made a name for herself as a divorce investigator. The client who comes to her is Max, home again and running M Group, and the divorce he wants handled is his own. The wife on paper is Alice. Their families arranged the wedding four years earlier, Max did not turn up to it, and Alice, whose own family had come down in the world, has carried the name Mrs. M since. Neither of them recognizes the other. A colleague with an interest of her own keeps feeding the confusion. One of Max's cousins is working an angle inside the family. The misunderstandings pile up from there.
