From Probation to Proposal: Triplets with the CEO

Huo Zhining spends the night with a woman he cannot afterwards identify, because someone had slipped a drug into his glass at a company function and he remembers almost none of it. The woman is Lin Xi, an intern in his own building. She grew up in a village, got into the finance program at one of the country's best universities, and took the job to pay for her mother, whose Alzheimer's has reached the point where she sometimes does not recognise her daughter. Lin Xi has no connections at the company, which is why her probation kept getting extended while colleagues with family in the industry were confirmed. Two days later the notice comes through that she has been made permanent. She assumes the two things are connected and that she has traded her body for the position, so she says nothing about that night and arranges her days around not being in the same room as him. It does not work. She is put on his projects, sent up to his floor, kept in his sightline. Then she finds out she is two months pregnant, with triplets, and that whatever passed between them has left the two of them physically linked in a way neither can explain: he wakes up nauseous in the mornings she does. Huo Zhining works out who she is, moves her into his house, and starts behaving like a man with a wife to look after, while Lin Xi is still carrying the belief that her job was bought and not earned.
