The Forsaken Heir

Li Ming wants to be an artist. He is in his last year at an ordinary high school in a small town, his marks sit in the middle of the class, and he is known for handing in blank papers, which never seems to throw him. The college entrance exam is close, and everyone around him is cramming for it. He starts to wonder whether the art road is open to him at all, and for a while he cannot see a way forward. At his lowest point he meets Mr. Zhang, an artist about whom little is known. Mr. Zhang tells him to stop letting other people's opinions decide the matter and to hold on to what he wants. His way of teaching is unusual. He has Li Ming go out and live a bit and see the world's ups and downs at first hand. Li Ming gets his footing back and decides to go after it, with the exam still ahead.
