Return of His Majesty

Before he left the village, Lee Hwon promised his fiancée Park Hwa-jin that when he became king he would come back and make her queen. Years later he founded a dynasty and took the throne. He returned in disguise to keep the promise. At the city gate the guards extorted a toll out of him. He learned that Park Hwa-jin was about to marry the magistrate's son and had been going along with the magistrate in squeezing the district. He spoke against it and was beaten for it. A royal emissary got him out. He found that the person who had actually looked after him years earlier was Park Cheong-yeon, an illegitimate daughter nobody paid attention to. Still keeping his identity to himself, he found how far the corruption went and held a large homecoming banquet as a way of getting the officials in one place.
