The Vampire Lord Spoils His Blood Servant Rotten

Selena believes that Marquis Anderson is about to marry Evelynn. She is human, raised by werewolves, and has served the vampire as his blood servant under a three-year contract that is now running out. She spends one last night with him and then ends the bond herself. The next morning she can hear what he is thinking. The bond formed between them that night carries his thoughts to her, and behind his cold manner she hears jealousy and a fear of losing her that he never puts into words. He stands up for her when others humiliate her and takes the punishment for it. A plot separates them, and when a silver arrow nearly kills her he turns her into a vampire to keep her alive. Love between the two races is punishable by death. At their wedding the Primogen Camilla breaks in and pronounces that sentence on Selena. The grief and anger of that moment wake the Lucifer bloodline that has been asleep in her.
