My Ex Is an Alpha, My Future Is a King

Cordelia is shut in the house with what is left of her father's estate, and she cannot see. Her uncle Richard holds the title and the money. The Duke had died with no warning, Richard took both, and Cordelia lost her rank inside a day; the blinding was done quietly and was part of the same plan. She had been with Luke, a commoner, and she broke his heart on purpose so that he would go and stay out of reach of it. He read it as her picking rank over him and left for the frontier with that. He comes back as Luciano Thorne, a war hero and the new Duke. By then Richard is pushing Cordelia into a marriage with a merchant of seventy. Luciano arrives with a dowry and claims her himself, meaning to make her pay for leaving him. Then he sees her scars and the state she has been kept in, and the hatred turns back into obsession.
