True Love Waits

Anne owned her house and ran a sandwich counter, and the house was the only thing she had worth borrowing against. Her son William was getting married. She mortgaged the house to pay for the wedding, fell behind on the repayments, and lost it. She went to William for somewhere to stay. His wife Selene came to the door and sent her away. Some time after that Anne got a young woman named Rebecca out of trouble. Rebecca returned the favour by putting her in front of her father, Leonardo, who was introduced to Anne as a plumber. They met once and registered the marriage soon after. After the marriage she took it from William's household, from the in-laws and the relatives, and from her ex-husband, and Leonardo stood with her through all of it. He was the head of a business empire and had said nothing to her about that.
