Don't Save Me, Stepbrother

Sloane leans on her stepbrother Oliver for everything. Her stepfather puts his hands on her and her mother flatters him and says nothing about it, so when the ground gives way under her, Oliver is what she catches hold of. He is not as strong as she needs him to be. She knows it, and she keeps taking his kindness and his sense of right anyway, and she survives on it. To her he is the one who saved her life and walked her back toward morning, and she is the disaster he pays for by being a decent person. Believing that, she leaves the coastal city to give him his freedom back. She does not turn around, so she does not see him watching her go.
