The Chip and the Chains

Bio-chip implantation is still at the experimental stage, and the people who volunteer for it are the ones with nothing left. Gavin was one of them. He had gone bankrupt and then been in a car crash, and he agreed to the implant in that state, assuming the experiment would fail and kill him. It did not kill him. He woke a thousand years in the past, in the body of a prisoner under sentence of death for a crime he had not committed. The chip is in his head and it carries knowledge from his own time, which is all he has in a world of crises stacked one on top of another and an axe already prepared for him.
