His Thorns, Her Sparks

Synopsis

Aaron Kong comes from a family that had money once and lost it. He carries the pride of that background with him, is short with everyone, and keeps to himself so nobody sees how alone he is. Chloe Lim is in the same class. She looks gentle and says little, and she has hurt of her own that she deals with by staying silent. The two are put at the same desk. They dislike each other from the start and argue constantly. Over time, as they keep running into each other, each starts to notice what the other is hiding behind the hard front. Aaron has seen Chloe at her lowest and most awkward and treats what he saw as something worth keeping. Chloe, meanwhile, has figured out the one place where he can be hurt, and she looks after him there without saying so.

Episode 1 might make you go "what IS this lunatic" and bail. He's my favorite short-drama actor and even I hesitated. Please stay with it!! The acting is unreal, the way his eyes go, the way he smiles, each one gets me >_<

My favorite of his modern-set work and honestly my favorite short drama full stop. You get the complete unhinged-psycho performance, and I'd say his acting leveled up here. If you're working through his filmography, this is the one.

The plot is hard to follow and never really comes together. With all the flashbacks and dream sequences, the pacing has no tension at all…
