Synopsis
At a fire, Jason Lane carries out the widow of a man from his crew first, and his wife Nina Young is still trapped inside while he does it. Jason had walked away from his family's business to join the fire service. Nina is a writer whose schooling his father paid for. They married, his shifts kept him away, and she waited without complaint. The fire changes that. The widow attaches herself to Jason, spreads stories about Nina, and then claims she is pregnant. Nina asks him for a divorce. After that comes another fire, and a close call with death inside it.
