Hate Me With My Heart

The heart in Christian Shaw's chest came out of a transplant, and he was told the donor was a woman who has stayed near him since, working as his secretary. He thanks her for his life. He is also certain that Shirley Storm betrayed him years ago, and he has spent a long time making her pay for it. Shirley is the one who gave him the heart. She has been living on an artificial one since the operation and never says so. By the time the truth reaches Christian he has pushed her far enough that he believes she is dead because of him. Six years later he runs into her again with a small boy who looks like him. He does not know the child is his. The secretary gives him her own account of who Shirley is now and where the boy came from, and he believes it.
