The daughter Jonas has been raising is not his. His wife had been with another man for years, and Jonas was cover for the pair of them. He learns this at a banquet the other man is hosting. Until then he had been turning down a standing offer from the System, ten trillion in exchange for a divorce, because of her. He signs the papers and takes the money, which makes him the richest man in the world. The woman who works as his assistant helps him go after the two of them. His ex-wife asks to come back and he says no. The System then puts up a new offer, a hundred trillion to break things off with the assistant.
