The Blood Pearl

A man lived with his young wife and considered the marriage a happy one. One day he found a giant clam in the basement of their house. It gave off a red light. After that he noticed a slime on his wife's skin. In old books he read about clam women who draw the vitality out of men and use it to grow pearls, with the harvest falling on a night of full moon. He went to the old house where her family lived. None of the people there had aged. His wife walked in her sleep, and one night she jumped into the pond. Inside the shell of the clam he found human bones. The full moon was near, and the blood pearl inside the clam was close to maturing.
