Before Lillian left to study abroad, she and Evan agreed to marry when she came back. She was gone four years. She comes home with Evan forgotten and gets engaged to another man. Evan is the heir of a family with more money than any other. Under a condition set by his grandmother he has kept that hidden and presented himself as a man of ordinary means.
