Love and Luck

Somebody in heaven keeps the account of each person's fortune, and part of that work is handed to trainees. Natalie Smith was on her first day of it when she made an error on Ethan Howard's account and took his fortune down to zero. His company went under and he ended up selling from a stall in the street. Natalie came down to the mortal world to put the fortune back, with a deadline set for her from above and only part of the power the job asked for, so her first attempts made things worse. A businessman and a woman who wanted the patents moved on what was left of the company while she worked. There was a patent document other people were after, an office she got into at night, a selling contest against a rival firm run over a livestream. Her feelings for Ethan grew while this went on.
