Calla was orphaned as a child and taken in by Nico, a rogue werewolf. One night at the full moon she lost her way in the forest and came across Kael, the Wolf King, in the middle of his mating cycle. He knew her for his destined mate. He left her a token and a promise that she would be Luna. Nico fell ill and the surgery cost more than Calla could put together. She went to Kael for the money. Nico's family had been exiled from the Blood Moon Pack for betraying it, so Calla said nothing about what the money was for. Kael took her for a gold digger and had her sign a three year contract as his kept woman. The three years ran on with neither of them correcting what the other believed. Near the end of the contract Kael made arrangements for a marriage that would seal an alliance. Calla was carrying his child by then, and she left before it happened.
