Alice works as a divorce case investigator with a reputation in the field. The client handed to her is Max, just back to take over as chairman of the M Group, and he wants her to handle his divorce. Four years earlier their families arranged a wedding that Max never showed up to, which left Alice, broke and newly out of her old social circle, as Mrs. M in name. Neither of them recognizes the other now. A colleague who wants Alice's position works on the case from the side and a cousin of Max's runs a scheme of his own, and the misunderstandings stack up.
