Knowing how the first one ended, she throws her embroidered bridal ball to a beggar in the street rather than to the man fate had picked for her. The beggar is the emperor, Ethan Kee, out of the palace in disguise. She goes in as a serving maid. Her sister Sophia Sim, along with Julian Mok and Chloe Teo, frames her more than once, and she is sent to the discipline office. Ethan protects her without saying who he is. At the spring banquet she comes back, proves the accusations false and exposes an assassination plot. Ethan drops the disguise, punishes the ones behind it and names her his empress.
