Xu Lanlan took the place of the Xu family's missing daughter and kept it after the real one was found. Xu Yin came home to parents and an older brother, Xu Shi, who took Xu Lanlan's word about her over anything she said or did. Xu Yin tested at the top of her school. On the day her university acceptance letter arrived, the family had her committed. She was in the hospital three years. The treatment there gave her the illness she had not had going in, rated high risk, and she got through the place by being the patient nobody on the ward would go near. A stray cat that got in, Jinjin, was the only thing that settled her. Out again, she wants to live the way other people do, and she holds it together with schoolwork, her medication and the cat.
