The "Crazy" Grandma Is a Billionaire!

Chu Yunlan spends her days making phone calls to nobody and holding meetings with a wall, talking about mergers and share offerings and a group nobody in the family has heard of. Her granddaughter Zhao Xi has known her this way for eight years. When the parents split the property, the two flats in the city, worth several million between them, went to her younger brother Zhao Yang without discussion. Zhao Xi got the grandmother, plus a document she was made to sign that cut her off from the family and made her responsible for the old woman's upkeep. She signed it. She had always been the closest to her grandmother anyway. They moved into a small apartment where Zhao Xi combed her hair, fed her, and listened to the story about founding Lanhai Group. Then one day her grandmother reached under the pillow, pulled out a yellowed business card and pressed it into her hand, and her eyes were clear in a way they had not been in years. Call this number, she said, and tell them Chairman Chu is calling a board meeting.
