Dustin has another woman, and he has been moving money out of the marriage into places a court would not look. Abby knows neither thing on the day her mother comes up from the countryside with eggs she made herself. Dustin's mother looks the old woman over and says what she thinks of where she comes from, and Dustin throws the eggs out. Abby sells the apartment in Emerald Lake Gardens, which she bought before the wedding, and takes the money and the divorce to a lawyer. Dustin's family threatens her to get her to drop it. She gathers what she can find on the affair and on the transfers, and the court gives her the share that is hers. She moves in with her mother after that. She does well at work. A colleague named Trevor is there and she starts seeing him.
