I Turned Seeds Into Gold

His mother is badly ill and there is nobody at home looking after her. He has been away working for three years, keeping almost nothing for himself and sending the rest back down to the small change, and his uncle and aunt have been taking all of it. Then he is hurt in an accident at work, loses the use of a leg and is let go by the factory. He goes back to the village, where the relatives humiliate him in front of everyone, knock him into the mud and put him out of the house. He and his mother end up in a shack. A fire on the hillside above the village shows him the wild sunflower seeds growing up there, and he works out a five-spice seasoning of his own for them. He sells from a stall in the village, then at the county market, and gets as far as running a small factory. People laugh at him for it. His stock is interfered with, there is a fire, and a large company puts pressure on him.
