Don't Mess with the New Guard

Lane spent nineteen years training in the mountains before coming down to the city to look for his family. An accident there left him owing a large sum, and to work it off he took a job as a guard for the Sicilian Chamber of Commerce. Four noble houses and the criminal underworld were already fighting over the city. Lane's fighting ability and his gift for divination let him humiliate the spoiled sons of the houses and put the gangs in their place, which raised the Chamber's standing. His missing memories came back in pieces while this went on, and with them the truth about who his childhood friend Cici really is. He thinks he is paying off a debt. He is a piece near the middle of the board the four families are playing on.
