Blood in the Jungle

Dax works a low-paid job and takes daily humiliation from Thomas, who is presented to everyone as the heir to Thorne Defense and is not. On a trip into the Bama rainforest, the group is ambushed by assassins. Dax puts them down using a ricochet shooting technique that almost nobody alive can perform, and the people watching realise the labourer they have been kicking around is something else entirely. A DNA test follows and it comes back saying Dax is the real heir of the Thorne bloodline. Thomas, who stands to lose everything the moment that becomes public, betrays him, and the enemies who wanted the family dead in the first place start hunting Dax directly. He stops running from them. He fights back through the people who set him up, takes the inheritance that was kept from him, and moves to take control of the defense empire, and the price of doing that is still being counted.
