The Basketball God System gives the person carrying it a new skill each time he finishes a task it sets. Marcus Hyde had been carrying it for a while and nobody at Riverside University knew. An injury had taken him out of the rotation and left him handing out water bottles at the end of the bench. The team had a regular season game it could not afford to lose, and with fifteen seconds on the clock someone shoved him onto the court. The idea was that the loss would go on his name. What followed was a run through better teams. Marcus took apart the defending champions on his own, dunked on a CBA rookie, went up over a much bigger man in the paint, and at one point put up 13 points inside 35 seconds to turn a game around.
