Rise Built on Forgotten Betrayals

Henry spent ten years abroad under a concealed identity, working for his country and sending large sums of money home to his wife, his daughter and his mother. During those years his wife was involved with another man. The two of them used the offer of a house in a school catchment to get a divorce out of him. Henry came back with the work finished and a fortune to his name. His wife told him his daughter and his mother were dead. He went from place to place looking for their graves. Both of them were alive, living nearby with very little money. An old friend went through the story piece by piece and the lie came apart. His wife and her lover knelt and asked to be forgiven, and she raised the idea of marrying him again. Henry told them the courts would settle it, and the case he had waited ten years to bring went ahead.
