The obsession angle only works when both sides are pulling their weight, and here it's lopsided. He's fully committed to the role, she's playing it much lighter, so the scenes that should crackle just sit there. Structurally it's fine — the brother conflict gives it somewhere to go — but it never earns the intensity it keeps reaching for.
