Yasmin Conrad's mother swept cherry blossoms in the courtyard, which was the wrong thing to have done in front of Elsie Hudson. Elsie set her dogs on her and had it done where people could see. Yasmin was a child and watched it and could do nothing, because Elsie was about to enter the palace as Queen. Elsie did not leave it there. She had the child carried off to the hills behind the house to be eaten by wolves. Someone Yasmin did not know reached her first and made her an offer: she would be taught how to draw powerful men in, she would be brought into the palace, and she would take her mother's account out of Elsie. Yasmin agreed. She goes in with rouge for a weapon, to pull the virtuous face off Elsie Hudson.
