Until You Say Yes

Jamie Holt saw Esme Carson on the first day of high school, when she spoke as the representative of the incoming students, and decided that was that. He courted her without restraint and without much sense of proportion, and everything he did drove her further off. By graduation she had had enough. She broke down in front of him, asked him to let her go, and left the city to study somewhere far away. Ten years pass with no contact. Then Esme ends up back in his arms by accident, and the whole pattern starts over: she avoids him, he pursues. Jamie has money and connections now, and he uses them to arrange things so that Esme runs out of ways to say no to marrying him. What eventually reaches her is not the pressure but the fact that he has not changed his mind in ten years.
