Logan was blind and had been abandoned. Giselle came upon him and saved him. Under her care the two fell in love. She gave up what she had for him and finally donated her corneas so that he could see. By the time his sight returned she had gone. She was pregnant with his child then, and he did not know it. Later she became his wife without his realizing who she was. Five years pass. Logan comes back as the heir to the Hale family. He has spent the intervening years looking for the woman who gave him her corneas. He does not know that his wife is that woman, or that the seriously ill girl she is raising is their daughter. The facts about the corneas and the child eventually come out.
