On her wedding day Selena Quinn was named as the killer of Grace Wallace, her husband Ethan's sister. The accusation held, Selena went to prison, and she gave birth to her daughter Emily there. Years later Emily is living with Ethan, and Melissa Dawson, a woman fixed on him for a long time, treats the girl as an obstacle and makes her days miserable. Emily meets a woman calling herself Scarlett Pierce and works out that she is her mother. The two of them start going back through what happened to Grace, and the proof they eventually turn up points at Melissa. Melissa moves first and takes Emily. Selena agrees to everything she asks in order to get the girl back, while Melissa has already decided that neither mother nor daughter is walking away from the meeting.
