Joanna's fiance cheats on her, and she ends the engagement and walks away. On the way home a man lying in the flowers by the roadside grabs her leg. She helps him, and she is paid one million for it. "I'll take this heavenly fortune," she says. The money comes with a contract. She is to be a wife on paper to Edward, a billionaire with a reputation for behaving badly, and to go with him into wealthy society and cause whatever scandal he wants caused.
