The True Heiress’s Revenge

Ava Hart wants to start at Kenton University like any other first-year student, without anyone knowing whose daughter she is. She has the place, with a score of 700, and her parents hold a party to celebrate it. Her father, Victor Carter, married into the Hart family and lives in his wife's house. He is attentive to Ava and offers to take her to registration himself, and she turns him down because she does not want to stand out. What she does not know is that Victor has been keeping a mistress for years, and that the mistress has a daughter about Ava's age. On registration day Ava rides to campus on an electric scooter with her best friend on the back. Near the campus a luxury car brakes hard in front of them, close enough that it nearly hits them. The driver is Tessa Carter. She swears at the two girls and drives off, and Ava pulls her friend away without answering, but Tessa has looked at her face and remembers it. At the registration desk Ava has just handed in the last of her forms when Tessa walks in with a hanger-on, sweeps the papers aside and announces that the spot is hers. She has a donation certificate to show for it, and she names Victor Carter as her father. Ava argues the point, and Tessa takes out cash and holds it out to her as an insult. In the middle of the argument Ava recognizes the bag Tessa is carrying. It is the one Ava gave to her father to take in for repair. Tessa takes her interest in the bag as a girl angling for a rich patron and says so. From there Ava's identity as the Hart heiress comes out, and so does the fact of Victor's other daughter, and the two sides start fighting over the Hart name and the money that goes with it.
