The Sterling family had not produced a daughter in eighteen generations, so when Clara was born they treated her as a lucky star and have done ever since. The instinct is real. Every venture she points at turns, in stocks, in property, in entertainment, and her father and her three brothers, who run energy, real estate and media between them, have begged her to take the chairmanship. Clara wants to finish university like a normal student first, so on campus nobody knows her surname means anything. On graduation day Sophie Crawford, an actress and the girlfriend of Clara's third brother, decides Clara is her rival for him. She comes for her in front of the whole hall, insults her, then beats her, and the students watching take it for a staged piece of the ceremony and cheer it along. The three brothers arrive with flowers, expecting a graduation, and walk in on their sister with her face covered in blood. After she recovers, Clara stops hiding what she is, and at the gala she intends to stand up as the Sterling heiress in front of everyone.
