The Million-Dollar Replacement

Darren Bradford pays Sara Elyse a million dollars a month to stand in for the woman he actually loves. The arrangement has run two years, and everyone in Woodlands knows what it is. "You're only a substitute. I can't give you much love, but I can give you a lot of money," he tells her, and Sara says she is willing to put up with it for his sake. Once her back is turned she holds up the black card and laughs. Nobody's heart breaks over being a stand-in when the money comes in that fast. The good run ends when Darren's first love comes back to the country to get married. Sara hands in her resignation, takes what she has saved and prepares to retire on it. Darren expects her to fall apart without him. Instead she is doing well, and there is another man beside her, an actor named Mario who meets her by chance and falls for her. Darren wakes in the middle of the night calling her a fraud who swore she couldn't live without him, and sets out to win her back. His first love has no intention of stepping aside. Sara, meanwhile, starts taking film work of her own.
