Bringing Home the Woman in Black Stockings, My Parents’ Secret Is Exposed

Jonathan and Margaret Sterling raised their son Samuel in poverty and told him nothing about the money behind the family. Samuel grew up believing there was none. His girlfriend humiliated him and left him for someone with more. Irene Thornton, who runs her own company, stepped in to help him afterward. The two of them agreed to act as a couple so that each could produce a partner for their parents. Irene's father came to the Sterling house knowing only that his daughter had attached herself to a poor man. He brought money and display with him and set about putting Samuel in his place, and by the end of the visit it was the father who had been made a fool of. Irene fell for Samuel watching that happen. The ex-girlfriend went to Julian Lancaster, a rich heir who had been courting Irene, and the two of them moved against Samuel together. The fight was carried on through connections and social standing, with the Lancaster family on the other side of it. The Sterlings' real identities came out in the course of it, and Samuel learned where he had come from.
