Kick Me Out? I'm Your Ancestor

Nerina has spent five years living in the Lu household as a woman they pay to keep bad luck off the family. The old master brought her in to break a doom hanging over the bloodline, gave her treasure every month, and put her word ahead of everyone else's. The younger generation take her for a fortune-teller working a rich family for room and board, and they say so, though the old man's orders keep them in line. With three days left before the doom would have been broken, the old master dies. The heirs decide to put her out during the funeral. She is not a fortune-teller. She is the Lu family's own ancestor and a descendant of the True Dragon, and centuries ago she made a pact with the three great clans of Zhongshan: she would shelter them, and they would keep up her worship and tend her grave. The penalty written into the pact for breaking it falls a thousand times over on whoever breaks it, arrows through the heart and blood from the seven orifices.
